Queen Latifah walks out surprised she wasn't a part of the previous hip-hop dance number by Three 6 Mafia. Although I didn't hear the word "bitches", it sure woke me up. And the nominees for Best Original Song are:
"In the Deep" (Crash), music by
Kathleen "Bird" York & Michael Becker; lyrics by Kathleen "Bird" York
"It's Hard Out
Here for a Pimp" (Hustle & Flow), music and lyrics by Jordan Houston, Cedric Coleman & Paul
Beauregard
"Travelin' Thru" (Transamerica), music and lyrics by Dolly Parton
Holy crap, the pimp song wins it! That's right folks, a song about pimps won an Oscar and, wait, the first pig just flew past my window. Though I'm not sure which one is which, Jordan Houston, Cedric Coleman & Paul Beauregard ran onto the stage to accept the award. I know one of them thanked Jesus (a quick shot to the back of the theater showed Jesus throwing up a gang sign). I guess this is a good thing. I mean, it was definitely my favorite of the three. Too bad Hustle and Flow won't win anything else. Boo.
