Teen Titans Go! comic book cover artist Sean Galloway has been selected to lead the animation team for two direct to DVD animated Hellboy flicks. The seventy minute shows will also be aired on the Cartoon Network, the first one appearing next October. The new style for the cartoon can be seen above; Galloway indicated that Mignola (creator) wanted a different style for the cartoon version of Hellboy.

I like Hellboy in both comic book and movie form. The film was a great translation from the comic book, and I strongly hope these new DVD movies can be as well. I’m not a big fan of changing the image, but I recognize the argument that the comic book style could have a rough time translating well into cartoon.  And if Mignola is supportive of it, then I’m at least willing to give it a chance. I’ll reserve stronger opinions until more images/video can be seen.
