Darren Aronofsky, the man who somehow managed make a migraine aural in Pi, will take his first stab at directing for TV with an episode of ABC's smash hit Lost.
Aronofsky, who will probably helm an episode during the May sweeps
period, is reportedly a huge fan of the show. According to its
executive producer, the director's agent called him up one day and
basically said "Hey, you know that dude who made Requiem for a Dream?
Yeah? Well, he totally digs your show. Could he come hang out on the
set? And maybe, like, direct or something?" Because they
know better than to look a proverbial gift horse in the mouth, Lost
execs said "Hell yes!", and began running around the room exchanging
dorky hight fives. The May slot, fortuitous though it is, is actually a lucky coincidence - Aronofsky is still busy filming The Fountain, but it's expected that the wrap of that project will dovetail nicely with TV's sweeps period.
