Mountain Dew is hitting the movie slopes. The beverage company is financing a Universal Studios-produced snowboarding documentary called First Descent. The project is being shepherded by John Galloway, a producer working through a new division of the soft-drink maker called MD Films. The documentary is said to include "top names in snowboarding", such as Shawn Farmer, Nick Perata, Terje Haakonsen, Shaun White and Hannah Teter. It'll hit theaters in December. - Scott Rudin has snatched up rights to the just-published memoir from J.R. Moehringer, The Tender Bar. The story follows Moehringer, a Pullitzer Prize-winning journalist, as he hangs out at bars looking for daddy surrogates. Rudin doesn't have a director in mind yet.
- Pierce Brosnan and Liam Neeson will star in Seraphim Falls, a "psychological actioner that takes place at the end of the Civil War." The film is set up at Mel Gibson's Icon Entertainment and will be directed by David Von Ancken from a script he co-wrote.
