The US vs John Lennon, a documentary about the ex-Beatle's "transformation from beloved musical artist to anti-war activist to iconic inspiration for peace" (can you tell that's from the press release?) already had Yoko's support, but now it's got an executive producer and distributor. Lion's Gate announced yesterday that they will fill those roles for the film, which will focus both on Lennon's actions and on the American governments efforts to get him to shut up. John Lennon will be written, produced, and directed by David Leaf and John Scheinfeld, a pair who to this point have worked almost exclusively on music documentaries for television. According to Lion's Gate, the project will be released some time next year, 30 years after Lennon was granted permanent American residency.Categories
