"40 million dollars!"That was my half-drunk prediction a few nights ago, after having the 40 Year-Old Virgin all-media screening. "This movie is going to blow Wedding Crashers out of the water - $40 million in its first week." And, uh, I guess that'll teach me to make half-drunk box office predictions, because Judd Apatow's directorial debut, though it beat all comers at the box office this weekend, still only managed to scrape up just over $20 million. Wes Craven's Red Eye earned a decent $16 million, and from there on, it's just a question of prior releases skulking off to home video.
Ugh. Is it Oscar season yet?
