Cher recently donated $550 to a sixteen-year-old in Alabama who is bed-ridden with muscular dystrophy. She found out about Joseph Sullivan from a dentist who, like Cher, had been involved in children's charities. His adopted mother, sixty-nine, is also disabled with two strokes. Medicaid was cut off from the family when the teen's survivor benefits increased his monthly income slightly over what Medicaid would allow. Cher says she hopes others will follow her lead.
