In a recent interview, Djimon Hounsou admitted that a Gladiator sequel is currently in progress. But no, Russell Crowe's Maximus is not coming back from the dead. Hounsou, who played a slave named Juba in Ridley Scott's original, says that he would "probably be in the centre of it as one of the leads." Hounsou went on to indicate that the script is not exactly ready, but "definitely the desire is [there] to do a sequel."
