Meryl Streep will arrive in my neck of the woods this Wednesday as part of the cast of A Prairie Home Companion the new Robert Altman film based on Garrison Keillor's public radio mainstay of the same name. Also rounding out the cast is Lindsay Lohan, Woody Harrelson, Kevin Kline, Lily Tomlin, John C. Reilly, Maya Rudolph, and Keillor himself (who also wrote the screenplay). This may help to explain the camera crew I saw the other day while strolling through downtown St. Paul. The movie, like the radio show, will be filmed almost entirely in the Fitzgerald Theater. If this film makes Keillor even more famous I may have to auction off the rejection letter he wrote me when I applied for a job with his radio show. It was by far the nicest, most gracious rejection letter I'd ever received. I guess that's Minnesota for you.
