It looks as if High Tension director Alexandre Aja will be heading to Morocco this month to start filming a remake of one of the most heart-warming tales of family dysfunction and cannibalism ever made, Wes Craven's visceral 1977 flick The Hills Have Eyes. The film will be distributed by Fox Searchlight and Craven will serve as a producer.
I always like to see someone do their own take on a classic story, but these horror remakes may be growing tiresome. I'm still waiting for someone to make horror new and exciting again, not just recycle it. Perhaps it's a genre whose golden age has passed, but I refuse to believe that. And besides, I don't have any real things to worry about, and this occupies my time.
