Unbreakable director M. Night Shyamalan has announced a new project, and for the first time in his career, he'll be working away from Disney. Warner Brothers will release Lady in the Water, a fantasy about a building superintendent who stumbles upon a sea nymph swimming in the pool of his apartment complex. All parties insist there's nothing but good vibes all around on this one - Disney loves Night, but the studio and the director "didn't agree creatively on this particular project". In a statement, Shyamalan said that WB heads Alan Horn and Jeff Robinov "have gone out of their way to offer me the best on their studio slates
time after time. I felt their personal connection to my movies. 'Lady
in the Water' is a personal movie with a big idea, and it seems just
perfect for Warner Bros." The pic is casting now, and will begin shooting in Philadelphia this August for a Summer 2006 release.Categories
